Netflix Launches AI Discover, a TV Tab That Recommends Shows by Mood
Netflix is rolling out AI Discover on TVs in the U.S., with mood themes, clips and new controls to keep or exclude recommendations.

Netflix is trying a new answer to the question every subscriber knows too well: what do I actually want to watch tonight? The company introduced AI Discover, a new tab on TVs that sorts recommendations by mood instead of by genre row.
Here's how it works. You pick a curated theme such as something light, scare me, family movie night or quick watches, and Netflix shows matching picks with clips. You can narrow the theme further, or hit a something different option to start over. Each title also gets a Tune Your Recommendations button next to Play and My List, so you can keep a suggestion or tell Netflix to stop showing it.
Netflix says the tab runs on a new intelligence layer that responds to what you tell it in real time and keeps learning. It also calls AI Discover a test kitchen: features that land well with viewers may move into the main Netflix experience later, and the ones that don't can quietly disappear.
For now it's limited. The rollout starts in the U.S. for people using Netflix in English on supported TVs, with more users promised in the coming weeks. If you have it, a Discover button with a red gem icon and a New label shows up in the top navigation bar.
As someone who watches a lot of anime on Netflix, I'm curious whether mood themes help or hurt smaller shows. A quick watches theme could be great for short series and films that never make the big rows. The risk is that broad moods keep surfacing the same few hits. The keep and exclude controls are the part I'd actually use, since they give you a direct way to correct the system instead of hoping it figures you out.
