FromSoftware Delays The Duskbloods to 2027 to Fine-Tune Rules and Balance After the Network Test

The Switch 2 exclusive multiplayer action game slips out of 2026 with no tighter window, as FromSoftware takes time for final balance work.

The Duskbloods will not make it out this year. FromSoftware posted on the game's official site on October 29 that its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive multiplayer action game is moving from 2026 to 2027, with no tighter window than that.

Why it slipped

According to the announcement, the August 2026 network test showed that players liked the core idea: fights that are not only head-on clashes, but also about positioning, different play styles and a wide range of strategies. FromSoftware says it wants to push that concept further, so it is setting aside time for final adjustments to the game rules and balance. The studio apologized to everyone who has been waiting.

The game in brief

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 only, published by FromSoftware and Nintendo
  • Up to 8 players online
  • Players take the role of a twilight bloodline, battling over the First Blood
  • New release timing: 2027

My take

Honestly, this reads like the right call. A multiplayer game where the pitch is that you can win by more than raw fighting lives or dies on its rules feeling fair. Eight players picking different routes and strategies is a lot of moving parts to tune, and the network test was the first time FromSoftware saw that at scale.

The part that stings is how open-ended "2027" is. With the network test behind it and the studio calling this a final adjustment stage, I would like to think it lands in the first half of the year, but that is my guess, not anything FromSoftware has said. I will be watching for a firm date.

The notice is on the official The Duskbloods site.
