Shin Oishinbo adds six cast members and names Yui Makino and Skoop On Somebody for its themes
The 2027 Shin Oishinbo TV anime revealed more of the Tozai News cast, Yui Makino opening PROMISE ME and a new Skoop On Somebody ending.

The new Shin Oishinbo TV anime, due in 2027, has filled out more of its cast and named both of its theme songs. The official account shared the news in a run of posts on October 29, and I like what it says about how seriously this revival is taking the food-and-newspaper world it comes from.
Six more voices join the cast:
- Toru Furusawa as Hideo Tanimura
- Kosuke Echigoya as Tomio Tomii
- Nobuo Tobita as Daizo Ohara
- Hiroshi Naka as Kyoichi Koizumi
- An Yaoya as Kinue Arakawa
- Yuko Ushida as Noriko Mitani
If you know the story, these are the people around the Tozai News culture desk and its Ultimate Menu project: the bosses, the editors and the colleagues who keep the arguments over the dinner table going. It is a veteran-heavy lineup, which suits a series where half the fun is watching grown professionals get stubborn about soup stock.
On the music side, Yui Makino sings the opening theme, "PROMISE ME." The ending theme is a brand-new song by Skoop On Somebody titled "Akashi," which means proof or testimony. Release details for that track are still to come.
For English-speaking fans, Oishinbo has always been a bit of a deep cut. The manga ran for decades and the original late-80s anime is a classic in Japan, but it never got the wide exposure of other long-running hits here. A modern take could be the easiest way in yet. While we wait, the official channel has been streaming episodes of the classic TV series on YouTube, so this is a good moment to sample where it all started.
No streaming partner outside Japan has been announced yet. You can read the cast reveal in the official announcement post, and the earlier series lives on its anime.day page.
