King's Proposal TV anime set for 2027 with teaser visual and Rie Takahashi as Saika
The Date A Live creators' fantasy light novel King's Proposal gets a 2027 TV anime, a first teaser visual, and Rie Takahashi as the strongest witch.

The duo behind Date A Live is heading back to TV. The official site for King's Proposal (Ousama no Propose), the school fantasy light novel series by Koushi Tachibana with illustrations by Tsunako, has confirmed that the TV anime will air in 2027 and has revealed its first teaser visual.
What we know so far
- Broadcast: 2027, with no season or month given yet.
- First cast: Rie Takahashi voices Saika Kuozaki, the strongest witch in the setting and the head of the academy where mages train.
- Original work: the light novels are published under KADOKAWA's Fantasia Bunko label, and there is also a manga adaptation.
- Teaser visual: out now on the official site, alongside a cast comment video from Takahashi.
The news landed during the online Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai 2026 stream. No studio or director has been named yet, so the staff list is the next big reveal to wait for.
The premise
The world of King's Proposal faces an extinction-level threat roughly once every 300 hours. Mages quietly keep it alive by hunting down the beings that could end everything, and Saika sits at the very top of that hierarchy. The story kicks off when she has a dramatic encounter with a young boy, and the official tagline teases where that goes: swear your allegiance to her, and she will make you her bride.
My take
Tachibana noted in a comment on the site that this is his first anime adaptation outside of a sequel in about ten years, and admitted that the crests and magic manifestations he dreamed up will be a real challenge to animate. That is exactly what I want to see on screen. Casting Takahashi as an untouchable, smiling witch also feels like a strong first card to play. I will be watching for the studio reveal next.
