Google Brings Dreambeans, Its AI Life-Story App, to India in 13 Languages
Google launches Dreambeans in India, its first market outside the U.S., turning Gmail, Photos and Calendar data into AI-illustrated personal stories.

Google is taking its oddest AI experiment overseas. Dreambeans, the app that turns your own Google data into illustrated stories about your life, has launched in India, its first market outside the U.S., according to TechCrunch.
The idea is simple and a little uncanny. You connect services like Calendar, Gmail, Photos, Search, YouTube, and Gemini, and the app builds personalized picture stories about your interests and routines without you typing a prompt. It started with still illustrations, and Google has since added Veo video generation so some stories can move.
The Indian launch supports 13 local languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali, plus English. There's a catch, though: you can only pick one language at a time, and a story can't mix them. In a country where plenty of people switch between Hindi and English in one sentence, that feels like a real gap.
The numbers so far are modest. Sensor Tower estimates shared with TechCrunch put Dreambeans at nearly 55,000 U.S. downloads since June, and October downloads fell 84% from September to about 5,500. Google says it picked India because of strong interest and heavy overlap between Gemini, Gmail, and Photos users there.
My take: the storytelling angle is charming, but asking people to pipe their inbox and photo library into an app just to get a cute recap is a big ask. Google lets you choose which services to connect, and I'd start small if you try it.
