The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World Season 2 Casts the Elf Royal Family of Alferia
Toshiyuki Morikawa, Tetsu Inada, Daiki Hamano, Yuki Wakai and Riona Imaizumi join Season 2 as Alferia royals and staff from episode 5.
The second season of The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World is about to leave Arnold Academy's classrooms behind for a while. The anime's official team has revealed a fourth batch of Season 2 characters, and every one of them comes from Alferia, the kingdom of the elves. They start appearing from episode 5.
The Alferia royal family and its cast
- Abel Alferius, the current king of Alferia and Elisa's uncle: Toshiyuki Morikawa
- Cyril Alferius, Abel's younger brother: Tetsu Inada
- Lard Alferius, first prince of the royal house: Daiki Hamano
- Cathy Alferius, third princess of the royal house: Yuki Wakai
- Mia, a maid who serves the Alferius family: Riona Imaizumi
Why this batch matters
Up to now Elisa Griffith has mostly been part of Ray White's school circle, so putting her uncle on the throne in the spotlight hints that her family background is about to drive the plot. Bringing in a king, his brother, a prince, a princess and their household staff all at once is usually a sign of an arc built on royal politics rather than another academy tournament.
The casting is a treat too. Morikawa and Inada are veterans with very different presences, and it'll be fun to hear how a commanding king and his younger brother bounce off each other. Hamano, Wakai and Imaizumi round out the younger side of the court.
Where to watch
Season 2 premiered in October on TBS and BS11 and streams on Crunchyroll as it airs. The official site has the full character profiles and comments from all five new cast members on its news page, so it's worth a look before episode 5 lands.
I'm curious how Ray, the sorcerer who keeps pretending to be an ordinary student, handles elven royalty. My guess is not quietly.
