Butt Detective Anime Confirms New 2027 Episodes Starting in April, With a Villain-Packed Teaser
On Nice Butt Day, the Butt Detective team confirmed new stories for 2027 from April, teasing the alphabet phantom thieves and Arachin and Misty.

Today is November 4, which Japanese fans of Butt Detective (Oshiri Tantei) know as "Nice Butt Day," thanks to a pun on the date. The team behind the anime marked the occasion the only way it could: by confirming that a new batch of episodes is coming in 2027, with the new stories set to start in April.
A teaser visual that looks like a case file
The new teaser visual swaps the show's usual sunny goofiness for something a little more tense. Butt Detective and his assistant Brown are scribbling in a notebook with serious expressions, while a wall of hand-drawn memos floats behind them. Those notes are a rogues' gallery: the three alphabet phantom thieves who have pushed the detective into real trouble before, Kaitou B, Kaitou Z and Kaitou N, plus Arachin and Misty, the ruin raiders that Oshiri Dandy faced back in his younger days.
The official site keeps the details close, but a line-up like that is hard to read as anything other than a hint that some familiar villains are coming back for bigger cases.
Why it is worth a look
I have a soft spot for this series. It is made for kids, but the mysteries are genuinely clever, and the visual gags are timed well. It has been a weekly TV fixture in Japan for years now. For a lot of English-speaking families it is also a sneaky gateway into Japanese animation.
There is no exact premiere date, story title or cast news yet, so for now the takeaway is simple: Butt Detective's case book stays open into 2027. You can find the announcement on the official Butt Detective anime site, and I will update you when the April episodes get a firmer schedule.
