Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes Drops Second PV and Adds Junichi Suwabe and Ai Kayano Ahead of January 2027
The vampire dungeon-crawler anime reveals four new cast members, including Suwabe as a guild clerk who may or may not be on Mercedes' side.
The vampire dungeon-crawler I have been quietly keeping on my winter list just got a lot louder. The official site for Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes (the full title roughly reads as "Mercedes of the Waning Moon: I Was Reborn as a Vampire Noble, but Since I Am About to Be Thrown Away, I Will Conquer the Dungeon") posted its second PV on October 30, along with four new cast members. The TV anime is still set to start in January 2027.
Who joins Mercedes
Anna Nagase was already confirmed as the lead, Mercedes Grünewald. The new names fill out the people around her:
- Kenta Miyake as Benkei, one of Mercedes' partners
- Ryunosuke Watanuki as Kuro, her other partner
- Junichi Suwabe as Florian, who works at the guild where seekers take on requests
- Ai Kayano as Lydia Grünewald, Mercedes' mother
The character page was updated the same day with the four new faces.
The Florian question
My favorite part of the reveal is Suwabe's own comment, released through the production side's announcement. He openly teases whether Florian is an ally, an enemy, or someone who seems friendly before turning on her, and hints that the anime might not play it exactly the way book readers expect. That is a fun bit of mischief, and casting Suwabe in a role like that feels deliberate. Kayano, meanwhile, describes Lydia as a slightly otherworldly, charming mother who loves her daughter no matter what, which is a nice contrast with a story whose premise is literally about a child being cast aside.
The team
The adaptation is based on Entou's light novels from TO Books, with illustrations by KeG. Kunihisa Sugishima directs, Jun Kumagai handles series composition, the music is by R・O・N and Shuhei Mutsuki, and Teddy is animating.
The new PV leans hard on action, with Mercedes diving into the dungeon alone and a closing shot that hints at a bigger truth about the world. The production has been rolling out one batch of news each month before broadcast, so I expect more before January. You can follow along on the official site.
