Charisma TV Anime Sets January 7 on TBS, and a Short Anime Moves Into the Share House This Wednesday

If you have been following Charisma through its drama CDs and live shows, the TV anime finally has a date: January 7, 2027, on TBS and 27 affiliate stations, Thursdays at 11:56 p.m. Japan time. The part I did not expect is that the share house opens its doors early.

A short anime starts this week

Before the full series arrives, a separate short anime begins on November 4, 2026, inside TBS's late-night program Yoru no Brunch, airing Wednesdays at 11:56 p.m. It is a smart way to get people used to these seven very loud personalities two months ahead of the real premiere, and it means fans in Japan get weekly Charisma in their lives starting this Wednesday.

Two new voices join the house

The official site also added two names to the cast list:

• Shinnosuke Tachibana as Soemon Nakakami
• Tomohiro Ono as Shu Torahime

They join the returning core cast, including Yuki Ono as Fumiya Ito, Masahiro Yamanaka as Rikai Kusanagi and Katsumi Fukuhara as Iori Motohashi, alongside Kenta Hosoda, Saku Hyuga, Genki Okawa and Tomohisa Hashizume.

Who is making it

Joji Furuta directs at PIERROT FILMS, and original creator Shu Matsubara writes the series scripts himself, which should keep the absurd, rapid-fire humor of the original audio dramas intact. Haru Watanabe handles character designs from Ebimo's originals, Gesshoku Kaigi composes the music, and EVIL LINE RECORDS produces the songs. A teaser PV is already out on the official YouTube channel.

My take: putting the original writer in charge of the scripts is the best news here. Charisma lives or dies on its timing and its strange logic, and that is hard to hand to someone new.
