The Bloodthirsty Bride Devours the King is getting a TV anime in 2027

Vertical-scroll manga keeps knocking on anime's door, and this morning another one got in. The official Honcomics account announced that The Bloodthirsty Bride Devours the King (Chi ni Ueta Hanayome wa Ou wo Kurau) is getting a TV anime, set to start broadcasting in 2027.

What the announcement includes

The reveal came with a key visual and a tagline that roughly translates to "Devouring each other on instinct. Is this feeling love, or poison?" That's a pretty good summary of the series' whole mood. The original creator and scriptwriter Shiki and artist Yu Shinonome both posted celebration messages right after the news went up.

What we don't have yet: the studio, the cast, a season, or a broadcaster. Honcomics only says 2027 for now, so I'll hold off on guessing and update you as soon as more official details drop.

The story so far

The manga is a Honcomics original from the Endolphin editorial team, running as an early-access exclusive on Mechacomic. To protect her homeland, Kate takes on the power of the Vampire Progenitor and enters a contract marriage with Luca, king of the continent's mightiest nation and a man who despises vampires. Between the contract and her own hunger, the question is whether anything like love can actually grow.

Why I'm watching this one

A political marriage with a predator-and-prey twist is the kind of premise that lives or dies on its tension, and the key visual already leans hard into that red-and-black, almost-a-bite energy. Full-color vertical comics don't always translate neatly to TV framing, so I'm curious to see which studio takes it on and how they handle it.
